Give generously and help the new and prestigious publication from La Centrale entitled Féminismes électriques which will be launched in the winter of 2012!

Ten years of contemporary feminist art – the exhibitions, the debates, and the performances – are coming together in a new publication from La Centrale Galerie Powerhouse.

Your donation make the difference. Support our bilingual book of 200 pages entitled Féminismes électriques, which provides insight into the discourse and trends specific to feminist art practice from 2000 to 2010, in both the local arts milieu as well as internationally.

Your generous donation will :

• further feminist thinking, with essays by Leila Pourtavaf, Helena Reckitt and Thérèse St-Gelais;
• provide conceptual frameworks for recent shifts in feminist theory, through the texts of Bernie Houde and Trish Salah;
• explore the impact of feminism on younger artists, in a conversation between Manon Tourigny, Dominique Pétrin and Stéphanie Chabot;
• explain aspects of the history and impacts of queer feminist practices in contemporary art, in a discussion between Onya Hogan-Finlay and Chris Kraus;
• contribute to an understanding of the role of art within the context of resistance to war and occupation, with Reena Katz and Jumana Manna;
• provide an overview of the programming and major events that have taken place at La Centrale during the years 2000-2010, in an essay penned by Roxanne Arsenault; and,
• make possible the presentation of 2 artist projects : Aneessa Hashmi's manifesto « How-to Guide Away from Power Relations » and an original poster by the legendary Toronto artist GB Jones.
