Description:
This workshop will cover essential legal considerations that every artist should know in order to protect their work, their rights and to navigate the legal side of the art world with ease.
The first portion of the workshop will cover copyright law: how it works, what rights artists are granted, the various myths about copyright law, and more. The second portion will explore different types of agreements that artists may encounter throughout their careers, such as licensing agreements and representation agreements. We'll discuss the key terms that artists should be aware of when negotiating and signing contracts, as well as how to protect their interests in these agreements.
By the end of this workshop, participants will have a good understanding of copyright law and contracts as they relate to the visual arts.
