Exhibition: 22 January-11 February
This is a series of personal images which has evolved as I observe myself as artist, teacher, wife, mother. In a conscious struggle to retain a "self" identity, certain events or awarenesses in my life experiences assume greater importance than others. These images are records of these experiences- the birth of my daughter, mother-child relationship, the physiological structure of the female body and the male body. Images usually associated with the child's world, birthdays, fairy tales and merry-go-rounds, also form part of my imagery.
While these images have been developing in my mind, so has my knowledge of the printing of hand-lithography in the studio. Because I do my own painting I can control all parts of the negative to transparency to plate to print process. It is this combination of the photographic image and the lithographic printing on Arches paper which produces the delicate quality of the resultant image.
