EQUITY-SEEKING COMMITTEE
As announced during the AGA on October 12 2018, we are launching a call to form an Equity-Seeking Committee.
The creation of this committee is a part of the continuation and recommendation of the working group, Board members, non-member artists, consultants and the current restructuring of the center. Led to evolve by the issues addressed, this Committee will be represented by people of equity seeking groups.
Followed by the equity audit, the recent events, the current and previous testimonies, we wish to share the experiences, develop reflections as well as propose actions, strategies and artistic interventions as decolonial and antiracist tools. The objective is to question the culture of La Centrale, and to impact its operations, physical space and programming all the while reaffirming its feminist anchoring, in order to align with the center’s mission and mandate.
The launch of the Equity Seeking Committee will be formalized by the first edition of Laboratoire en quête, from February to June 2019, the full program will be presented shortly. Laboratoire seeks to enrich the process and to transmit the potentials and the language developed during this transformation to members of the broader artistic community. Nourished by these exchange, practices, and artistic experiences, the Equity Seeking Committee will continue to reflect and to influence the center, including its short- and long-term programming.
We are calling out to all Indigenous, Black and Racialized members and friends of La Centrale to form the Equity Seeking Committee as the agent of transformation of the center. The first meeting will take place on Tuesday February 5th from 5pm to 20pm.
If you are not able to make it to the first meeting, don’t worry, there will be more.
