La Centrale now has a co-direction team!

After several months of reflection and restructuring, La Centrale has taken steps to strengthen its non-hierarchical structure. The co-directorship will support La Centrale in aligning its values with its operations, ensuring structural sustainability, and to depend less on the unpaid labour of the Board of Directors (BoD). La Centrale's commitment to the non-hierarchical model requires a constant evaluation of our governance and organisational structures. With this in mind, on March 22nd, 2022, La Centrale's BoD voted to implement a new co-directorship structure. This new structure, in addition to alleviating the obligations of the Board, justly recognizes the work and responsibilities of the organisation's permanent employees.

Working closely with the BoD, the La Centrale’s Co-Directors are responsible to keep the organisation functioning and working towards its mandate. This includes ensuring the long-term health of the organisation by planning, implementing, and evaluating the organisation’s vision and strategic plan. The Co-Directors share many responsibilities related to structure and governance, including: Human Resources, operational and program-specific budgets, securing funding, and special initiatives such as the organisation’s relocation.

La Centrale's team puts collaboration at the heart of its work and practices shared responsibility and accountability to support a culture of open and constructive feedback.

In addition to redefining the internal functions of La Centrale, this emphasis on accountability is also intended to help restore the relationship between La Centrale and its community.

We are confident that this structure will ensure accountability, transparency, and support a non-hierarchical structure that is healthy and sustainable.
